Its been awhile since I have posted.

December was quite the busy one

with holiday miniature shows at a variety of galleries.

Legacy Gallery (Scottsdale)

Principle gallery (Alexandria Va)

Gallery at the Station (Ogden Utah)

Brownstone Gallery (Provo Utah)

Along with a full schedule of frames and wild series of technical issues.

(Site went down for a week, followed by e-mail working only half the time,

a total computer crash and to top it off I lost my phone.)

But things are looking up this week.

I have been completing all the orders that should have been finished a month ago,

spending time painting and packaging for a mid January show at Principle Gallery.

I'm also trying to put together some kind of catalog.

It is a busy one.

Couple of Odd projects

I have been painting and framing a lot but I have been a little slow in taking photos. New paintings should be up by the first of next week.

I thought I would show a few of the other projects I had fun creating recently.

This top project is a donation to the Festival of the Trees in December. Proceeds from this go to Primary Children's Hospital. The table will stand next to a donated tree with gifts on it and the box sits on top of the table. The box holds testimonies of Jesus Christ from all the Primary children in our neighborhood. A nice lady around the block gave me a plate of brownies for helping out. It was well worth it.

I don't often have the opportunity to work with leather, although it is one of my favorite frames to make.

This was a project for a nice painting of good ole John Wayne. Of course, while creating the frame,

I had to put in a favorite movie of mine, "Rio Bravo" starring "The Duke" which helped smooth the way.

Through the summer I have been painting 3 to 4 times a week outdoors early morning sessions usually finished by ten. I have posted a few of the "in progress" paintings.

I hope to paint at the Spring City Paint Out next week, that's if I get enough frames to my customers before then. I mailed a few new paintings off to Principle Gallery and should be able to send a few more by the first of the week. Apple Frame Gallery Plein air show is coming up in 2 weeks I will have new paintings to show there also.
Painting outdoors has been helping the inventory problem.

It seems blogging is the first thing to go when life gets busy. In early August I had a daughter get married which I ended up with many assignments (one of which is a wedding cake and I will post a photo of it in a few days).

I tried to keep painting and had to keep framing (to pay for the wedding) but I am now getting around to posting.

It has been a busy month, the steady orders, the galleries wondering where my paintings are

jury duty, not just once but twice, helping kids move, birthdays, I need a vacation!!

Artists seem to be back selling or at least ordering frames compared to last years ups and downs.

the photo makes it look small, but for me and a little palette knife it is an overwhelming

Rett will demonstrate his process of painting from beginning to end discussing the principles and how he applies them to his painting.
“Rett is one of the best palette knife painters that I have seen.” ~ Artist Robert Call.
Along with the demonstration and discussion, a critique of art work (finished or in progress) provided by students and teacher will be offered. Students should bring their art work, finished or not.
Rett received his formal arts education at Weber State and Utah State Universities. He studied with Harrison Groutage, Glen Edwards, and LeConte Stewart. Rett's art is influenced by Schmid, Hullings, many old world masters. He continues to experiment and hone his own style.
A minimum of 5 students is needed for this workshop.
